I Went Walking

Earlier today I decided to go for a walk with my dog Abby through the forest near my house. I thought it would be muddy because of all the rain we had yesterday but it wasn't bad at all. It's the second time I walked through the forest this walk, but today as I was walking I realized how lucky I am to be able to walk through any time I want. It really is so peaceful to walk through a forest in the middle of a busy neighbourhood because you literally can not hear anything. It's a great place to collect your thoughts while getting some good exercise.

Time passed so quickly while I was walking in there that before I knew it, I had been walking my poor dog to death for an hour! Hahaha... Needless to say I think she loved it!

We Picked Fresh Apples

The boyfriend and I went apple picking last Saturday and couldn't have picked a better day to do it. It was beautiful out- not too warm and not too cold. We rode the tractor (and had the tractor man make up fun of my flip flop footwear), picked apples, saw the farm animals and eventuaaaalllly, when we got home, we made our first ever homemade apple pies.

Uhhh they don't really look like typical apple pies in this picture but for it being the first time ever making homemade apple pie they were pretty delicious.

We Went To See Pearl Jam

This past Wednesday David and I went to see the Pearl Jam concert. It's been his on his wish list for a looong time for me to go see his favourite band with him and finally he can cross that off his list. ;) It was my first big concert that I've been too (normally we go to smaller venues) and I have to say that it was a really good experience.

I Was On A Farm

This past weekend my family and I headed down to Ontario to visit family. It's mostly farmland where our family lives but it was pretty fun to explore their huge plot of land. The barn below is actually not used for anything at the moment as it is old and decaying inside. The plan is to have it torn down soon so a new one can be built in it's place, which will eventually be the home to a few horses.

We didn't stay in Ontario for too long as we only had the weekend and a long drive there and back. I did however have a great time and wish that I got to see that side of my family more often as the last time I saw them was probably around 4 years ago.

C'est tout,

I Took Pictures (Summer 2011)

Here's a selection of pictures from this summer. Most of them are just Dave and I since I don't know how others would feel about being on the internet. I'll keep the pictures smaller so this post is not too obnoxious.

C'est tout.
Now I want frozen yogurt.

It's Almost Midnight and I'm Gonna Blog

I was lying in bed listening to my ipod and I suddenly felt like blogging. Music will do that to you.

I'm gonna backtrack to a post I posted and unposted and then copied and saved on my computer back in June. I quit my job at that time that I had since January and then blogged about it. I wrote about a lot of things that I hated about the job (the reasons I quit) but I ended my blog post by saying what I learnt from the experience. I'm going to re-copy the things I learnt right now, just as a self-reminder and for documenting purposes.

"I thank you for giving me a goal, for giving me experience, for showing me what I don't ever want to do, or for that matter, what I never want to come, for making me grateful for the genuine people in my life, for pushing me to make decisions, for teaching me things about myself, as well as teaching me how never to treat others, and most of all, despite all the things I dislike about you, I thank you for making me realize that I don't deserve all that BS.. and now I will proceed to skip on out the door with a big ass smile on my face. Oh and thanks for the paid vacation ;)"

Right after I quit my job I did the "walk of shame" back to my old job, which in fact wasn't so shameful because they welcomed me back with open arms and because I get to see some of my favourite people every week. I am, however, continuously looking for an actual "grown-up" job. I have my sights set on something and I'm determined and willing to wait for it. I've had one interview so far and didn't get it, but everything happens for a reason. I've continued to apply for different positions at the same place so time will tell.

What else... Oh, David got a job and is an OFFICIAL teacher with his own classroom filled with kids, desks, books and everything. Couldn't be more proud! I've known him since he had Gym class as 3rd period or whatever in highschool, so to see him start his own classroom is just amazing. He has his first official day with the kids tomorrow and I know he's going to do great.

Besides that, summer has been filled with swimming, cottage time, yummy food, good times, lots of laughs and the best of friends.

Lots of love,
Lindsay

We Had A Breakfast War

The boyfriend and I decided it would only make sense to turn a rainy Saturday afternoon into a full on Iron Chef Breakfast War. We tweaked the rules a little bit and cut it down to one dish! Our secret ingredient was eggs. Here's some pictures of our breakfast war!

Opponents: Lindsay vs. Dave

And the finished product! First we have some nice scrambled eggs with green onions, heart shaped toast, some bacon and a side of yogurt parfait with granola, fruit, and topped with cinnamon. Made by me for David!

Second we have a delicious omelette filled with green peppers, red peppers, white onions and green onions and a side of cinnamon covered apples with some honey and granola. Made by David for me!

Both meals were absolutely delicious and we couldn't pick out a definite winner but that's okay because that only means we must do a rematch. A lunch war next time?

xoxo,
Lindsay
ps. Check out David's apron... I made it for him for Christmas! I think I need one too.
